Questions
Everything families ask before ordering.
- Is the Memorial Day pricing real or going to be extended?
- It's real. We're running the promotion from the day after Memorial Day through Father's Day (June 21). Standard pricing — $79 single, $109 joint — returns on June 22. We don't run fake countdowns or extend "ending soon" sales. If you order on June 21 at 11:59 PM, you pay $49. If you order on June 22, you pay $79.
- How does it work?
- A small engraved plaque mounts to a headstone, urn, memorial bench, or family heirloom. A QR code on the plaque links to a private memorial page you build — with photos, stories, audio recordings, and a guestbook. Anyone who scans the plaque can read it. Anyone you invite can contribute to it.
- Are there monthly fees?
- No. The price of the plaque includes the memorial page and lifetime hosting. No subscription, no annual renewals, no surprise charges. We think charging monthly for a memorial is wrong, and we don't do it.
- What if your company closes?
- We've designed the system so the URL engraved on your plaque is independent of the company. If we ever wind down, we'll provide a complete export of your memorial — photos, stories, everything — and the QR redirect will be transferred to an archival service. Your memorial does not disappear with us.
- How is the plaque attached?
- With industrial 3M VHB adhesive — the same adhesive used to bond automotive body panels and architectural signage. It bonds to granite, marble, bronze, stainless, ceramic, and most stone and metal surfaces without drilling. Installation takes about five minutes. Apply in temperatures above 50°F for best adhesion.
- Will cemeteries allow it?
- Most cemeteries allow small non-permanent plaques attached with removable adhesive. Private cemeteries almost always permit them; municipal and religious cemeteries usually do too. We recommend a quick call to your cemetery before installing, just to confirm their policy. We've not yet had a customer report a refusal.
- How long will the plaque last?
- The engraving and QR are cut into the surface, so the inscription is permanent. The plaque is built to live outdoors — on a headstone, an urn, or a marker — and holds up to sun, rain, and the seasons. Over many years of harsh direct sun the colored finish can gradually soften, but the engraving and QR stay sharp and scannable far longer. It works just as well indoors on a mantel or shelf.
- Who can edit the memorial?
- You can. You can also invite up to three family members as contributors at no extra cost. They each get their own login and can add photos, stories, and memories. You always control who can edit and who can only view.
- Who can see the memorial?
- Your choice. The page can be fully public (anyone with the link or who scans the plaque can read it), passcode-protected (visitors need a four-digit code you share), or private (only invited family members with a login). You can change the visibility at any time.
- What can I put on a memorial?
- Photos, videos, written biographies, audio recordings, life timelines, family guestbook messages, favorite quotes, music, and obituary archives. There are no storage limits.
- Can the memorial be for two people?
- Yes. Joint memorials are designed for couples, parents who share a headstone, or anyone who rests together. Both lives get their own biography, photo collection, and timeline on a single shared page. Joint memorials are $30–$50 more than single memorials, depending on plaque.
- Can I use this for a pet?
- Yes. We offer a pet memorial bundle with a smaller plaque and a pet-appropriate page template. Pet memorials follow the same lifetime-hosting promise as human memorials.
- How long does shipping take?
- Orders ship within 3 business days from Utah. Standard US shipping is free and typically arrives within 5–7 business days. We do not ship internationally yet.
- What is the return policy?
- If you're unhappy with the plaque for any reason within 30 days, we'll refund the order in full. The memorial page stays available either way — we never delete your memorial because of a refund.
- Can I get a replacement plaque?
- Yes. If a plaque is damaged, lost, vandalized, or simply needs to be moved, contact us. Replacement plaques linking to the same memorial are $29 each. Your memorial content is permanent and tied to your account, not to the physical plaque.
- Is this affiliated with a specific religion?
- No. Heirloom serves families of any or no faith. The platform doesn't impose religious imagery, language, or assumptions. The memorial pages you create are yours to fill with whatever traditions matter to your family.
